An Introductory Training Weekend in Playback Theatre

Playback Theatre is a unique form of interactive  theatre where participants and audiences are invited to share moments and stories from their lives. The stories are heard, honoured and witnessed by the performers who bring them to life using voice, movement,dance, music and song.

Reconnect with your playfulness and creativity

Build rapport through games and exercises

Learn to improvise and interact with
authenticity and spontaneity

Practice deep listening skills and new forms of expression

Explore and enjoy your inner performer

This is the first of 2 training weekends that form the basis of the Core Training
in Playback Theatre.
It is suitable for theatre and drama
practitioners, arts therapists, musicians and music therapists, group workers and anyone interested in learning more about participatory theatre, storytelling and improvisation.

Diane Adderley’s first career was as an actor and musician, before re-training in her 40s as a psychodramatist. She first encountered Playback Theatre in 1990, through Francis Batten, and has been continuously involved in the form ever since, as performer, conductor and trainer. She is a founder member of Manchester Playback Theatre, which is 25 years old this year, and was a member of York Playback from 1991-2015.
Diane trained with Jonathan Fox at the School of Playback Theatre, going on to become a Leadership Graduate in 2004. She has taught the form, for beginners and experienced companies, in both the UK and internationally and has presented workshops on aspects of conducting at various conferences and gatherings, including Playback Theatre’s 40th birthday conference in Montreal 2015.
She also led a Home Group at UK Gathering at Beverley in 2015
